About Rebecca
Rebecca Drake-Pelli was first introduced to meditation as a child and yoga during high school. This began a deep curiosity and life long exploration into the practices of self-inquiry through movement, stillness, and breath. Some of her most influential teachers have been Tracy Bogart, Erich Schiffmann, Sarah Powers, Sharon Salzberg, and Doug Keller. Rebecca began teaching yoga in 2000, and is a certified YogaWorks, Vinyasa Flow, and Aerial Yoga Teacher. Rebecca continues to teach locally and across the U.S. in studios, classrooms and for corporate events.
As a mindfulness based, multi-disciplinary movement teacher, Rebecca teaches a sustainable, and progressive class that focuses on nourishing the nervous system and cultivating resiliency. She draws on her training in modern dance, improvisation, and axis syllabus universal motion principles to add richness and depth to the physical alignment in flow. Rebecca’s classes are kind and supportive, challenging in unexpected ways and inspired by her appreciation of community, relationships, nature, and art.
As a somatic based movement artist and teacher, Rebecca is deeply invested in creating and shaping spaces for people to experience, investigate, and respond to themselves and their experience of life through the mind-body movement portal.
Rebecca lives with her husband and twin boys outside of Chapel Hill. Along with teaching yoga and mindfulness, she is a Functional Nutritional Therapist and dance teacher at Carolina Friends School.
